Let’s look at what the cylinder lawn mower offers compared to other models.

The cylinder lawn mower has a set of somewhere between six and twelve blades. They are welded to a singular reel configuration that spins. As the reel turns it will position the top of the grass between the reel and the stationary bottom blade and make a cutting action.

What most people choose this type of lawn mower for is its ability to make an incredibly flat finish to a lawn. It’s the type of lawn mower that is used on cricket grounds to mow the well maintained crease area.

However, users make a note that this remarkable finish won’t occur after just one use, it will in fact take a few cuts in order to produce an even finish to your lawn.

There are some types of grass that this type of lawn mower won’t be able to cope very well with. It is designed for the finer lawn type situation. Before you make your investment, here’s what you need to consider.

Long grass. The design of the mower means that it won’t be able to cut this grass properly. It will most likely not be able to position it in place for the blade to cut it. This mower is best suited to grass that will be cut regularly and frequently.

Weed. The leaves and stalks of weeds will make it impossible for the cylinder type lawn mower to operate. It’s going to miss out on lots of leaves and stalks if you try to use it.

Uneven. The cylinder lawn mower is not built for uneven ground. It’s not flexible enough to climb high parts of the lawn, but will sink into dips. Therefore your finish will be uneven. You may want to try to even the lawn before using this type of mower.

Sandy. The cylinder lawn mower cannot be used on sandy ground. It will go inside the reel and create irreparable damage, even after one use the blades will most likely need to be re-sharpened.

Although a cylinder mower is capable of producing some remarkable results, it’s not every condition that it will perform best in. By following these tips, you can set yourself up for lawn success. Let us know how you get on.
