In this post we want to share a few tips on how to get your garden ready for spring.

First things first, it is time for the first mow of the season. It is important to set your lawn mowers to the highest cutting setting and mow regularly. We would also recommend feeding your grass with a lawn feed to help you achieve a healthier and greener grass. If you have a particular problem with weeds you can get a lawn feed with weed control in it.

Once you have cared for your lawn it is then time to do a bit of garden maintenance. If you have any shrubs, the spring is a great time to prune as the regrowth has not started yet. For those that have a green house, the spring is a great time to give it a spring clean. Take the time to clean your windows and floors, get rid of any moss or dirt and brush away any cobwebs.

The spring is also an ideal time to mend or paint any fences and ensure your garden furniture, equipment and tools is in good working order.

If you’re a fan of roses or fruit, now is a great time to start planting. For the roses you should choose a part of your garden that receives a lot of sun and use a good quality compost. If you’re looking to grow fruit, apple and pear trees are great to plant in spring.

Finally make sure your shed is organised and in order. You are going to be using lawn mowers and gardening machinery a lot over the next few months so it is important they are easily accessible.
