In this post we want to share some very basic tips on how to ensure your garden machinery is up to scratch.
Firstly you should start by inspecting all of your equipment. Make sure that nothing is damaged or missing, refer to the manuals if you are unsure what should be there or what the equipment should look like. If you notice anything is damaged or missing, make sure you get it replaced or repaired before you use it.
If you haven’t used any garden machinery for a while then it is important to review the operating manual. Just to refamiliarise yourself with how to use the machinery appropriately.
If you have a petrol lawn mower or any other garden machinery that uses fuel, it is important to check the tank. Do not use fuel that remains from winter. Drain it immediately or you could risk damaging your machinery.
Next we would recommend giving your equipment a good clean. With lawn mowers use a brush to ensure you get rid of any old grass or dirt and ensure you give all of your other machinery a good spring clean too. Of course, if you read our blog regularly, then you will already have cleaned your mower before putting it away from the Winter, so this will be a very short job for you! By cleaning your machinery regularly you are keeping it in the best working order.
Finally, before using your lawn mower you may want to sharpen the cutting blade. This will ensure your lawn mower is operating efficiently and will give you a nice clean cut which will help keep your grass healthy.
