Once you start to see the brown appear, then it’s time to take action. If you want your grass to be greener, then you’ll need to begin irrigation by watering it.

Grass without water can go dormant. This is how grass conserves energy until the grass can start to grown again. The grass isn’t dead, it’s just brown. However, there comes a time when the grass has gone too brown to help it out with water alone.

If you’re looking to keep your grass green throughout the entire summer, then it’s essential that you get it prepared for the summer well before the spring showers stop. Lawns prefer to have around 1 inch of water each week. It’s actually far more beneficial for the lawn to have a good weekly soaking rather than a light water watering.

As with other plants, watering early on in the day will give the grass an opportunity to absorb the water before the sun begins to burn it off and it will help to prevent disease and the growing of fungus as by the time night arrives, as the ground will be mostly dry.

By keeping your mowing height by at least three inches high, you can prevent the roots from being pulled up by the mower. They will have protection to grow deeper and your soil is less likely to dry out as there will be good coverage. Although you may need to mow more regularly in order to keep your grass at a reasonable length.

A non-staining liquid iron food will help to bring green back to your grass. It’s also suitable for any other plants that may need a summer boost.

However you decide to care for your lawn this year, have a great summer!
