The Toro GrandStand Multi Force is a combination lawn mower, leaf blower and snow plough, with the innovations in attachments set to continue as the new invention takes off. Each attachment is quickly interchangeable, meaning that during the autumn the leaves can be blown and bagged before the grass is cut using the same machine. This gets the job done a lot faster as there is no need for setting up and stowing away two different items of equipment in between jobs. In the winter, a snow plough attachment can be used to clear driveways and paths. Both the snow plough and mowing deck attachments are available up to 60 inches wide. The hybrid design was finalised by the acquisition of Boss snow ploughs by Toro last year; although the Multi Force was in the design stage before the takeover, the potential for adding snow plough functionality was too great to ignore and meant that the Multi Force became a truly year-round machine.
At the recent Green Industry and Equipment Expo in Kentucky the Toro GrandStand Multi Force garnered a lot of attention, with one contractor placing an order there and then, having seen the potential for the new machine in fulfilling a snow clearing contract for thirty pavements and the added bonus of being able to use the same equipment all year round for landscaping jobs. Other interested parties included landscaping services who saw the cost benefits in being able to run the same base machine all year round, saving money on winter storage and engine maintenance.
World Patent Marketing, a company that specialises in manufacturing of patented products, has announced the All Purpose Lawn Mower. This machine is aimed at the domestic market, whereas the Toro GrandStand Multi Force is aimed at the professional and large-scale landscaping industry. The All Purpose Lawn Mower is not yet in production, but the features are expected to include a lawn mower, leaf blower and grinder, cultivator and snow blower, which covers the lawn care needs of most domestic customers all year round. The multiple features on this machine eliminates the need to own several pieces of single-purpose equipment, plus the additional storage and maintenance needs of those tools throughout the year when they may only be used for one or two months.
Each lawn is different, and the seasonal needs of lawn care mean that at various times of the year there will be a need for grass cutting, leaf blowing, mulching and snow blowing capabilities, not to mention the added bonus of being able to renovate and weed the lawn in the spring before the lawn is used regularly in the summer. With the All Purpose Lawn Mower, or the Toro GrandStand Multi Force any homeowner or landscaper can meet seasonal needs without investing in specialised equipment or storing bulky machines when they are not needed. Hopefully the technology to combine several pieces of lawn care equipment in one will be coming to the UK soon.
