Rotary Lawnmowers

This is actually the most popular type of lawnmower in the country and it’s no surprise. They are particularly good at being able to cope with grass that has grown a little too much and can be used pretty much year round. The rotary lawnmower works by cutting the grass with a blade that rotates horizontally. The mower is on wheels as this helps with passing over ground that is not completely even. If you opt for one with a rear roller then you’ll be equipped to achieve that beautiful striped effect that your neighbours will covet.

Although this type of mower is available in petrol, electric and cordless, it will depend on the size and slopes in your garden as to which power type will be most suitable. Keep in mind that petrol generally delivers a little more power.

Cylinder Lawnmowers

The cylinder lawnmower operates with a number of cutting blades. They are very effective at cutting as the more blades there are, the better the cut is. The high quality cut means that they are popular for cricket grounds and bowling greens. Again, it’s the roller that delivers the striped look.

Options include manual powered, petrol or electric models.

Hover Lawnmowers

Hover mowers are particularly suited to the sloping garden. They are very light and easy to move as they sit on a cushion of air that is created by the very fast moving blade. They will work on either longer or shorter grass, although many of them are not equipped with a grass collection box.

Ride on Mower

Ideal for the larger garden, these lawnmowers are relatively costly to buy. However, the time that is saved is worth it for those who spend a lot of time mowing their lawn. If your garden is larger than the largest of gardens, then you may even want a garden tractor.

Robotic Lawnmowers

For those who have no interest in mowing the lawn whatsoever, meet the robot. You just charge it up, switch it on and watch it work whilst you sit back and enjoy the view.
