Cobra S40C 2-in-1 Petrol Scarifier and Aerator

Released in 2019 the Cobra S40C petrol scarifier and aerator has become a bestseller. The modular blade system consists of a 24 spring tine cartridge for scarifying and an 18-blade cartridge for aerating the soil.

The S40C is powered by a 212cc 4 stroke engine and the large wheels give excellent traction across long grass and uneven ground. A simple dial changes the height and depth of the cartridges with an operating range of -15mm up to +5mm.Scarifying works by removing moss, weeds and thatch and allowing sunlight to reach the grass roots and preparing the lawn for grass seed. The cartridge rotates and the 24 sprung tines effectively rip the unwanted organic matter and collects it into the 45-litre bag for emptying. Scarifying is best suited for the spring and autumn months.

Aerating is an efficient way of getting moisture and oxygen deep into the soil and encouraging drainage when conditions are wet. The aerator cartridge rotates and claws at the surface removing any moss or detritus left after scarifying and collects it into the bag. The 18 robust blades can also be set to slice into the soil for increased aeration. This process is recommended regularly for the entire growing season and as and when required.
